Jihae, the colony's first Halloween Festival approaches, finds herself yearning for the familiar ghosts, ghouls, and goblins of home. Unlike the West, South Korea's spookiest season falls in the dead of summer, when the humid air grows still and the shadows cast heavy in the trees and alleyways. As this nostalgia takes hold, Jihae is offered the task of decorating a haunted trail, an opportunity she eagerly accepts, despite the challenge of working with the most terrifying creature in the colony: the hellish bilong named Sizzle.

Sizzle, hungry for connection, craves electrical wires, pistons, plasma filters, and battery acid - a voracious appetite that leaves him insatiable. Yet, when he meets Jihae, everything begins to taste like soap. Though he despises the taste of flesh, Sizzle finds Jihae's scent the only thing that makes his mouth water, as her presence causes his instincts to shift in unpredictable ways.

Unable to rid himself of Jihae's alluring scent, Sizzle does what any apex predator would do: he stalks from the shadows, hunts her scent, and plays with his food until the succulent pitter patter of her heartbeat makes him drool. Jihae, in turn, will accept his possessive claim, and Sizzle will ensure that she likes it.

As Sizzle's haunting presence begins to seep into Jihae's dreams, she initially blames it on her obsession with supernatural K-dramas. However, this taboo infatuation proves to be more than a passing phase. Once Sizzle sinks his teeth into her, Jihae knows he'll never let go.

The Over the Moon series, set in the Intersolar Union universe, follows the human colony on Yaspur.
